Postmodern – the new EHR paradigm – at Swiss eHealth Summi

Industry News | Sept. 19, 2016, 4:02 p.m.

Tomaž Gornik, CEO of Marand and Co-Chair of openEHR Foundation, will present at the largest Swiss eHealth event.

The data models are key. They give meaning to the data. Unless vendors release the data models, true sharing, interoperability and collaboration will not take off.

It’s now time for a new paradigm of EHRs.

It’s been done in other industries, health just needs to follow the analogy. Gartner recently used the term “postmodern” when describing the ongoing evolution of ERP systems moving from monolithic towards modular systems. Tomaž Gornik will present how this “postmodern” paradigm applies to EHRs. More on this can also be read in Mr. Gornik blog posts.

A postmodern EHR is a multivendor environment built on an open and agile architecture, where introducing, renewing and replacing apps, devices, and cloud services is far easier and faster compared to legacy monolithic EHRs. A cornerstone of any postmodern EHR architecture is a health data platform capable of managing data on behalf of all constituents of the architecture.

Marand’s own Think!EHR PlatformTM is one of the leading health data platforms with many major real-world implementations. Think!EHR PlatformTM is based on open-source data models (openEHR) and supports agile development of innovative solutions. One such example is OPENeP, an open-source medication management solution supported by NHS England and built on Think!EHR PlatformTM.
